The Mastery of Music Theory Textbook/Workbook Series
Brian Kehlenbach has been teaching music theory for over 40 years in music programs at the University of Connecticut, the University of Southern California, and for the last 30 years at Santa Ana College in California. He has accumulated many approaches and helpful tricks for learning music efficiently and thoroughly. He is an active composer, educator, classical recitalist, and jazz pianist. Performances of his compositions have taken place on the Aries Composers Festival, the LA Philharmonic Green Umbrella series, the Charleston Piccolo Spoleto Festival, at Carnegie Hall, and in several venues across the country. He holds B.S. and M.M. degrees in Music from the University of Connecticut and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Southern California. He is currently a professor at Santa Ana College in Orange County, California where he has also served as Music Department Chair and Interim Dean of Fine and Performing Arts.
The Mastery of Music Theory series by Brian Kehlenbach is a comprehensive set of three volumes covering Fundamentals of Music (book 1), Diatonic Harmonization (book 2), and Chromatic Harmonization (book 3). The format is presented as a text and workbook, providing clear explanations and examples of important concepts while also including worksheets that can be used for practice as well as homework assignments.
